Quebec summers are warm and beautiful. Quebec winters are famously harsh and enduring. It's the latter that has instilled an unwavering ability to dig deep and continue pushing in Maghalie Rochette.
The long-time Quebec resident uses her environment to her advantage, propelling herself to the top of UCI podiums, mtb stage races, and single-day gravel events that are proud to wear the sufferfest badge. And she does it all with an infectious attitude that would befit a mid-summer spin.
At 31 years old, Maghalie has become a staple of the UCI CX circuit. Riding for Canyon, SRAM, and now Velocio, she has put herself on the top step of World Cup podiums and is a three-time CX National and PanAm Champion.
Maghalie has finished first at over 45 UCI races, and that doesn't include her MTB or gravel accomplishments.
It's obvious Maghalie rides at the highest levels of the sport. But her passion for riding is better illustrated away from the saddle and in front of a microphone.
Her self-described "fever" for cycling has turned into the Fever Talk podcast, where Maghalie draws on her own experiences chasing her love for cycling with others just as passionate about their own pursuits — whether that be art, entrepreneurship, or anything else.
The 2024 CX season kicked off for Maghalie in Dublin on December 1. In her first race of the winter, she cracked the top 15. Her next race is only weeks away. Whatever the results, Maghalie will be there, undoubtedly lifting the mood of the entire race.
