A paddle might not be necessary, but a bike definitely is. Preferably a full-suspension mountain bike — although this is Vermont, so no judgment on the old-timer rocking the rigid steel rig either.
For the past couple of years, Velocio has donated to the Vermont Mountain Bike Association's (VMBA) Trail Naming Grant program. This year that money went to revive Schist Creek, a technical trail that hosted the Eastern States Cup enduro in the beginning of September.
A leader in mountain bike advocacy and state-wide cooperation, VMBA brings together independent networks throughout Vermont towns, allowing for more holistic, more sustainable, and more equitable trail building to happen across the state.
The Trail Naming Grant program is a way for brands to support trail construction and upkeep throughout the state. For Velocio, that meant helping finance the construction of Vermont's first all-adaptive trail network — The Driving Range — and more recently donating toward the revitalization of Schist Creek.
"[The trail] has seen a lot of tires on it between Enduro races, new riders, and being a favorite with locals. Rocks and roots were exposed in spots that pushed riders off line. Water was following the trail increasing erosion and key turns were not holding riders on line. So we removed and replaced rocks and soil and worked on shedding water off trail.
"Another key was adding more optional tech rock features to add more interest and challenge."
